New Jersey confirms USA's first Sikh attorney general

TRENTON, N.J. –  The New Jersey Senate has confirmed the nation's first Sikh state attorney general.

Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir Grewal was confirmed Tuesday. Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy says he believes he's the first Sikh to serve in such a position.

Former Republican Gov. Chris Christie tapped Grewal in 2016 to be the prosecutor in Bergen, New Jersey's most populous county.

The Sikh Youth Association of Seattle held their 4th Annual Seattle Sikh Turban .

The outreach event saw over 500 dastars (turbans) tied and over 600 free meals served, as Sikh values were shared throughout the day.

Turban Day Celebrated At Times Square in New York

NEW YORK:  The iconic Times Square in New York was seeped in the colours and tradition of the Sikh culture as members of the community tied turbans to thousands of New Yorkers and tourists to spread awareness about the Sikh identity amid a spike in hate crimes against them in the country.

Non-profit group 'The Sikhs of New York' organised the 'Turban Day' at Times Square yesterday, with its volunteers tying colourful turbans to close to 8,000 Americans and tourists hailing from different nationalities and ethnicities.

Members of Congress, Sikh community celebrate Vaisakhi on Capitol Hill

WASHINGTON, DC:  Vaisakhi celebrations began early this year with influential lawmakers felicitating and partaking in the major Sikh festival ahead of its actual date on April 14.

Congressman John Garamendi of California, Democratic Co-Chair of the American Sikh Congressional Caucus, introduced a House Resolution (H.R. 189) on March 10, “recognizing the historic, cultural and religious significance of the festival of Vaisakhi.” On Wednesday, March 5, at noon, the Resolution was read on the House Floor by Rep. Patrick Meehan, R-PA, Co-Chair of the Congressional Sikh Caucus.

Rose Parade 2017 (United Sikh Mission)

For the third year, Sikh Americans will ring in the new year in California with a parade float made up of thousands of flowers.

United Sikh Mission, a nonprofit, took part in the 128th Rose Parade in Pasadena, California, with a float that shared Sikh-American history and culture with attendees and viewers at home.

The 2017 float depicted the Golden Temple — Sikhism's most important temple, located in the Indian state of Punjab — and four white peacocks, the state bird of Punjab, where most of the religion's adherents are from.

beautiful turbaned Sikhs. This is one way Sikh men are uniquely identified. The young Sikhs wear a
Patka and adults wear a turban. Woman may or may not wear a turban.
We the Sikhs, in United Staes of America (our home) cherish both our Sikh Values
taught to us by our Gurus as well as the values given to us by our forefathers in the US Constitution.
